”53 minutes” is part of the artist’s Surfaces series. In this group of paintings, Barbara uses dogs images as the main symbol of domesticated life. She aims to question the human behavior and how we can transform everything around us, even ourselves. Animals have always been a frame of reference to define ourselves as human beings, affirming our place in nature. But the ‘beast’ also lives inside us when it comes to compete and be ambitious in the civilized world.
